Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea reveals plans for his first-ever solo album, officially stepping out on his own after decades as one of rock’s most recognizable musicians.

The “Under the Bridge” star recently confirmed that his debut solo LP, Honora, will arrive on March 27. The 10-track project follows the release of his first solo single, A Plea, which dropped last month and marked a bold new chapter in his creative journey.

On Honora, Flea handles both bass and trumpet duties, surrounding himself with what he describes as an “elite band of modern jazz visionaries.” The album also features standout guest vocalists, including Nick Cave and Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, adding further depth to the genre-blending release.

The core Honora band includes producer and saxophonist Josh Johnson, drummer Deantoni Parks, guitarist Jeff Parker, and bassist Anna Butterss. Additional contributors include Mauro Refosco—known for his work with David Byrne and Atoms For Peace—as well as Bright Eyes collaborator Nate Walcott.

Musically, the album balances originality with reinterpretation. Alongside six original compositions, Honora will feature Flea’s own takes on songs by artists such as Frank Ocean, Jimmy Webb, and funk pioneer George Clinton.

Earlier this week, Flea unveiled another new track, Traffic Lights, co-written with Johnson and Yorke. Reflecting on the song’s creation, Flea explained that the piece came together on the very first day he and Deantoni Parks played together. Feeling a familiar rhythmic energy reminiscent of Atoms For Peace, he shared the idea with Yorke—who immediately connected with it.

Flea praised Yorke’s contribution, noting the song’s haunting melody and lyrics that explore the confusion of modern life, where truth and falsehood often blur together. He also described Yorke as a deeply warm, instinctive collaborator who brings a free-flowing, jam-driven spirit to the music.

To support the album, Flea will kick off an intimate tour on May 7, beginning with six dates across North America. The run will then continue through Europe and the UK, with stops scheduled in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and Paris. Tickets for all shows go on general sale at 10 a.m. local time on January 23.
